COVID-19 Updates
Notification of potential workplace COVID-19 exposure
09/11/2023
Dear Colleagues,
Throughout the pandemic, we have adjusted our protocols in response to evolving infection
control guidance and requirements from regulatory and public health agencies. This
notification process is a California COVID-19 requirement that originally went into
effect Jan. 1, 2021, and it meets Cal-OSHA notification guidelines that went into
effect June 16.
This notification provides information about the dates and locations that an individual was on campus during their infectious period. According to the CDC, a person with COVID-19 is considered infectious starting 2 days before they develop symptoms and later test positive, or 2 days before the date of their positive test if they do not have symptoms.
Fresno State was notified on September 11 that individuals infected with COVID-19 were present in the following campus buildings:
- 1 Individual on August 31: Social Science, North Gym, South Gym
- 1 Individual on September 1: University Student Union
- 1 Individual on September 5: Resnick Student Union
- 1 Individual on September 6: Family Food Science
- 1 Individual on September 6: Library, Resnick Student Union
- 1 Individual on September 7, 8: University Center
- 1 Individual on September 8: Science 2
If you were present at the above worksite locations on the dates provided, please note that an exposure investigation is underway. If it is determined that you were in close contact with the infected individual, you will be contacted directly by Environmental Health and Safety. A close contact is defined as being within the shared airspace (same room/open indoor area) for over 15 minutes total over a 24-hour period of a person confirmed to have COVID-19 during that person’s infectious period.
If you believe that you may have been in close contact with the COVID‐19 cases listed above, please reach out to case investigators with Environmental Health and Safety. Their contact information is as follows:ehsrmsrequest@listserv.csufresno.edu
