Oct. 19-21: Voluntary Flu Shots and Monthly COVID-19 Testing

Dear Colleagues,


As the fall and winter cold and flu season ramps up, getting a flu shot this year as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, is particularly important. The University, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, will offer voluntary flu shots at no cost to faculty and staff who are authorized to be on campus this fall.

The flu shots will be available from 8 to 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 - 21 at the Save Mart Center, the same dates as the voluntary monthly COVID-19 testing. No appointment is necessary, and you do not have to be a Kaiser patient to receive a free flu shot.

Influenza (the flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses with similar symptoms, but caused by different viruses. Getting a flu vaccine can protect yourself, your family and your community from the flu, and it can help reduce the burden on our health care systems responding to the pandemic. COVID-19 TESTING

In an effort to continue to protect the health and well-being of our campus community, we will offer voluntary monthly COVID-19 testing (at no cost) for faculty and staff who have been approved to be on campus during the fall 2020 semester. While the testing is voluntary, our university administration is strongly encouraging participation in order to reduce the spread of the virus. 

Testing will be held on the following days at the Save Mart Center between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The testing will be done by Valley Children’s Healthcare (VCH). No appointment is necessary. Faculty and staff approved to be on campus can be tested once each month. 

Oct. 19, 20, 21 

Nov. 16, 17, 18 

Dec. 1, 2, 3

The University will not have access to test results for employees, which is considered private medical information. If an employee tests positive, they will be contacted directly by VCH. Please note VCH is required to report any positive cases to the Fresno County Department of Public Health (FCDPH). FCDPH would then notify the University in accordance with their required reporting and contact-tracing protocols.

PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL 

  • Please remember prior to your arrival to complete the daily healthy-screening tool found here, and to bring your phone to confirm that you have been cleared to be on campus. 
  • Plan to arrive at the northwest entrance to the Save Mart Center. Wearing facial covering and maintaining physical distance will be required, in keeping with campus requirements this fall semester. 
  • Bring a photo ID (for COVID-19 testing).
