Fresno State Employees Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccinations

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to inform you that beginning Monday, March 1, COVID-19 vaccinations will be available for educators in Fresno County, including Fresno State faculty and staff.

Vaccinations will be by appointment only, and you will need to sign up at one of the local clinics. Information regarding sites and appointments can be found on the Fresno County Department of Public Health website. Scroll down to the heading “COVID-19 Vaccination Sites.”

I sincerely encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity. Ideally, if you are teaching or have frequent in-person contact with students, we recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. Please note that student assistants are not eligible at this time.

While the CSU cannot require employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccination, it is my hope that the voluntary participation by our campus community will be high so that we can mitigate the number of positive cases and have the ability to achieve our goals for repopulation in fall 2021. As we have noted previously, the campus repopulation will be dependent upon the number of positive COVID-19 cases, the availability of the vaccine and guidelines from state and local health agencies.

The university is awaiting notification from CalOES (the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services) regarding the use of the Save Mart Center parking lot as a potential vaccination site, similar to their partnerships with Cal State LA and CSU Dominguez Hills.

We are committed to protecting the health and well-being of our students and employees, and will continue to stay in close communication with the Fresno County Department of Public Health for guidance and resources to support our campus community. We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
