COVID-19 Updates
Requests for Travel Will be Considered After July 1
April 29, 2021
Dear Colleagues,
I’m happy to write that CSU restrictions previously placed on system-wide travel will be lifted as of June 1, 2021. As such, the Cabinet and I have determined that travel essential for academic success, professional development and the benefit of the University will be considered.
All travel requests for Academic Year 2021-22 will need to be pre-approved by the appropriate Vice President (this excludes travel associated with a sponsored program managed through the Fresno State Foundation. For Foundation related travel, please refer to updates here).
The CSU also advised that we may begin to consider international travel including faculty research activity and student study abroad. We will need to look carefully at each program location or travel destination including the CDC warning level for that country.
We have learned during the course of the pandemic that much of our work can be conducted virtually. While in-person interactions are sometimes preferable, attending conferences and workshops virtually can be just as effective and, of course, cost efficient.
I urge you to carefully consider requests for travel and please reach out to your immediate supervisor if you have any questions about the approval process for your divisional area..
Sincerely,
Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D.
Interim President
