COVID-19 Updates

Accommodations to Students with Disabilities

Posted on May 1, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

Given these extraordinary times with the current COVID 19 Shelter in Place Orders, and out of empathy and compassion for our students, we are asking all instructors that have enrolled students certified with Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), to not utilize lockdown browsers as a testing requirement on the SSD students, for the duration of virtual instruction. We have learned that lockdown browsers have created significant accessibility barriers and jeopardized their ability to receive their certified accommodations.  Additionally, a number of these students have suffered emotional anguish during these difficult and unknown times.

As a University, we have a legal responsibility to ensure equitable access for all of our students.  In order to create the best student outcomes, we are asking for your support and abiding of this request. Thank you.

If you have any questions, please contact the SSD Office at
