Emergency Pay for CSUEU and Teamsters 2010
Posted on May 22, 2020
Colleagues,
On March 25th we announced the CSU’s implementation of emergency pay for CSUEU and Teamsters 2010 staff after Governor Newsom issued an order requiring all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence.
With Governor Newsom easing guidelines over the past few weeks, the emergency pay provision will cease on May 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm. If a second wave of the pandemic occurs this fall, as being predicted, the CSU will evaluate the need to reimplement emergency pay at that time, if necessary.
Managers should work with their affected employees to ensure accurate reporting of emergency pay for all time worked on campus through May 31. As a reminder, Human Resources and Payroll Services has forms available on the Payroll website to help managers report and track emergency pay, including informal time off for exempt CSUEU staff.
Please be advised that the City’s decision to lift the shelter-in-place effective May 26, 2020 and the CSU’s decision to cease emergency pay does not change or alter our current campus operations and reduced staffing levels out of caution for any potential public health risks. However, if we have staff who may be close to exhausting their NTWL, we are exploring possible options for bringing these colleagues back to campus. In addition, the Fall 2020 Planning Task Force is working on a multi-phase repopulation plan that will align with the operational and instructional needs to support any essential in-person courses. We will provide more information, when available.

Sincerely,
Marylou Mendoza-Miller, SPHR
