COVID-19 Updates
Reporting Requirements for COVID-19
July 15, 2020
For faculty, staff and student assistants who are working on campus this summer and/or in the fall, please be advised of the following campus protocols:
A. In the event you test positive for COVID-19
1. Contact Janell Morillo immediately at 559.278.0276 or janellt@csufresno.edu and complete this online form.
AVP Morillo will notify the appropriate individuals, including the Vice President for Administration and the Director of Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management.
Once the initial report is received, university officials will take the following immediate actions:
- Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) will:
- Determine where on campus you have been, identify any campus individuals with whom you have been in contact, and assess if anyone should self-quarantine due to possible exposure.
- Determine if any campus areas need to be specially cleaned and disinfected, or closed for a period of time.
- Provide guidance to managers about what needs to be communicated to other employees with whom you may have been in direct contact.
- Notify Human Resources (university or auxiliary) who will contact you to initiate
the worker’s compensation claim process and leave options, as appropriate.
- Facilities Operations (Custodial Services) will coordinate the cleaning and disinfecting of required areas, and will coordinate with EH&S.
2. Notify your supervising manager.
3. If you have tested positive, you are required to isolate and not return to campus
for a period of no less than 10 calendar days. Prior to returning to work, you will need to provide HR Benefits (benefits@mail.fresnostate.edu) a release from your health care provider. You may use available leave to cover a
period of absence.
4. As a reminder, your health information is confidential. After you have reported
to AVP Morillo (and completed the online form), the campus will take reasonable steps
to protect your confidentiality.
B. If you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or is strongly suspected to have COVID-19
1. Complete the online form.
Once the initial report is received, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) will
investigate and, if appropriate, take the steps outlined in scenario A (above).
2. Notify your supervising manager.
3. You may be required to stay home (quarantine) for a minimum of 14 calendar days per Fresno County Department of Public Health recommendations. If it is not operationally
feasible to telecommute, there are a number of leave options available.
4. Consider visiting one of the available testing sites in the county. Seek guidance from your health care provider.
5. As a reminder, your health information is confidential. After you have completed
the online form, the campus will take reasonable steps to protect your confidentiality.
C. If you have been on campus and/or are expected to report to work on campus and do not feel well or you are showing signs of illness
- If you have COVID-19 related symptoms, you are required to stay home for a minimum of 10 calendar days and NOT come to campus.
- Common COVID-19 symptoms include, but are not limited to:
- Fever (100.4 degrees F or higher) or feeling feverish or have chills.
- Respiratory symptoms including cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, and/or runny nose.
- Please review the CDC’s COVID-19 symptom information page for the full list of symptoms.
1. Seek guidance from your health care provider. Consider visiting one of the available
testing sites in the county.
2. Complete the online form.
3. Notify your supervising manager.
4. There are a number of leave options available if telecommuting is not feasible. HR Benefits will coordinate these with you. You
may need to provide HR Benefits a release from your healthcare provider prior to returning
to work.
5. As a reminder, your health information is confidential. After you have completed
the online form, the campus will take reasonable steps to protect your confidentiality.
