Fall 2021: Safeguarding Campus Community Health
July 28, 2021
Dear Fresno State Faculty and Staff,
We are looking forward to the start of the fall 2021 semester!
I'm proud of the work our university has done since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic — Fresno State has continually focused on the safety and well-being of our campus community by following state and local public health guidelines as well as CSU policies.
CSU Chancellor Joseph Castro announced on Tuesday (July 27) that faculty, staff and students accessing campus this fall will be required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus unless they seek an exemption for medical or religious reasons. Fresno State employees will be required to certify vaccination by Sept. 30, 2021.
Fresno State is in full support of the Chancellor's decision to prioritize the health and safety of our campus community, and we urge all unvaccinated members of our university to begin the vaccination process without delay to protect our campus community and to meet the requirement.
As such, beginning Monday, Aug. 2, all represented employees will have the option to voluntarily complete the COVID-19 Self-Certification form available through your My Fresno State portal, under Employee Self Service. Non-represented employees, including managers (MPP) and auxiliary employees, are required to complete the Self-Certification form. This information is considered confidential as part of your employee record in our PeopleSoft HRIS system. We strongly encourage everyone to complete this process as soon as possible.
Fresno State will continue to require that face coverings be worn indoors and that the Daily Health Screening Questionnaire be completed in advance of coming to campus.
In addition, as systemwide Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) are executed with our respective collective bargaining units for a COVID-19 employee testing program, Fresno State will have the opportunity to opt-in. To date, CSUEU has agreed to such an MOU. Additional information in regards to employee testing will be available soon.
If you are not yet vaccinated, our Student Health and Counseling Center in partnership with the School of Nursing will offer five (5) free vaccination clinics to our campus community beginning Aug. 9. You may alternatively schedule an appointment for vaccination off-campus through MyTurn.ca.gov.
Thank you for doing your part to protect yourself and your Fresno State family!
If you have questions regarding these requirements, please contact University Human Resources at 559.278.2032. For the latest information and updates, visit the University's Fall 2021 and COVID-19 website.
Sincerely,
Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D.
