Notification of potential workplace COVID-19 exposure

Dear Colleagues,

Throughout the pandemic, we have adjusted our protocols in response to evolving infection control guidance and requirements from regulatory and public health agencies. This notification process is a California COVID-19 requirement that originally went into effect Jan. 1, 2021, and it meets Cal-OSHA notification guidelines that went into effect June 16.

This notification provides information about the dates and locations that an individual was on campus during their infectious period. According to the CDC, a person with COVID-19 is considered infectious starting 2 days before they develop symptoms and later test positive, or 2 days before the date of their positive test if they do not have symptoms.

Fresno State was notified on May 20 that an individual infected with COVID-19 was present in the following campus buildings:

  • 1 individual on May 9: Conley Arts

  • 1 individual on May 9, 11: Lab School

  • 1 individual on May 10: Mclane Hall

  • 1 individual on May 11: Peters Business

  • 1 individual on May 11: Music, Education

Fresno State was notified on May 23 that an individual infected with COVID-19 was present in the following campus buildings:

  • 1 individual on May 16, 17, 20: Mckee Fisk

  • 1 individual on May 16, 17, 18, 19: University Student Union

  • 1 individual on May 18: Social Science

  • 1 individual on May 18: Engineering East, McLane Hall

  • 1 individual on May 18, 19: Music 

  • 1 individual on May 18, 19: Library

  • 1 individual on May 19: University Student Union

  • 1 individual on May 20: University Student Union

  • 1 individual on May 20: Library, University Student Union

Additional location of interest:

  • 2 individuals on May 21:  SaveMart Center (graduation events)

If you were present at these worksite locations during the time periods provided, please note that an exposure investigation is underway. If it is determined that you were in close contact with the infected individual, you will be contacted directly by Environmental Health and Safety.A close contact is defined as having close contact (within 6 feet) for 15 minutes or more during a 24-hour cumulative period with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

As an employee, if you are required to quarantine or become ill because of COVID-19, you may be entitled to various leave-related benefits under applicable federal and state laws and University-specific policies and agreements.
