Notification of potential workplace COVID-19 exposure

Dear Colleagues,

Throughout the pandemic, we have adjusted our protocols in response to evolving infection control guidance and requirements from regulatory and public health agencies. This notification process is a California COVID-19 requirement that originally went into effect Jan. 1, 2021, and it meets Cal-OSHA notification guidelines that went into effect June 16.

This notification provides information about the dates and locations that an individual was on campus during their infectious period. According to the CDC, a person with COVID-19 is considered infectious starting 2 days before they develop symptoms and later test positive, or 2 days before the date of their positive test if they do not have symptoms.

Fresno State was notified on Nov. 15 that individuals infected with COVID-19 were present in the following campus buildings:

  • 1 individual on:
    • Nov. 3: Social Science
    • Nov. 8: Professional Human Services, Social Science
  • 1 individual on Nov. 8: Social Science
  • 1 individual on:
    • Nov. 8, 9: Agricultural Science
    • Nov. 9: Peters Business

Fresno State was notified on Nov. 16 that individuals infected with COVID-19 were present in the following campus buildings:

  • 1 individual on Nov. 9: Agricultural Mechanics
  • 1 individual on Nov. 10: Peters Business, Family Food Science, Kremen Education
  • 1 individual on Nov. 8: Peters Business
  • 1 individual on Nov. 12: Science II, Horse Unit
  • 1 individual on:
    • Nov. 9: Agricultural Operations, Fresno State Winery
    • Nov. 8: Viticulture Research Annex
  • 1 individual on Nov. 1: Professional Human Services
  • 1 individual on Nov. 8 and Nov. 9: Library
  • 1 individual on Nov. 9: McLane Hall

If you were present at these worksite locations during the time periods provided, please note that an exposure investigation is underway. If it is determined that you were in close contact with the infected individual, you will be contacted directly by Environmental Health and Safety.A close contact is defined as having close contact (within 6 feet) for 15 minutes or more during a 24-hour cumulative period with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

As an employee, if you are required to quarantine or become ill because of COVID-19, you may be entitled to various leave-related benefits under applicable federal and state laws and University-specific policies and agreements.
