COVID-19 Updates

Update to Campus COVID-19 Testing Protocols

Oct. 10, 2022

Dear Campus Community,

I’m sending you an update regarding our campus COVID testing protocols. In accordance with recent updated guidelines from the California Department of Public Health, employees and students who have attested to a medical or religious exemption (including those who are booster eligible, but not yet boosted) are no longer required to test weekly at the COVID-19 Testing Center effective Monday, October 10, 2022. In addition, a formal communication has been provided to each of our employee unions.

Our COVID Testing Center will continue to be open and available this fall at no cost for our campus community. We strongly advise our community to use the testing resources we have available; these will keep our Bulldog family healthy. In addition, it’s always a good idea to wear a facial mask and maintain good hand hygiene.

As a reminder, the Testing Center is located on the main level of the USU and has saliva PCR tests available from a self-service vending machine. Staff are available to monitor Rapid Antigen (nasal) tests Monday - Friday during the hours of 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

We also have Rapid Antigen test kits available for pickup from the Student Health and Counseling Center, Library, and USU at no cost.

If you are symptomatic, please stay home, test using an at-home Rapid Antigen test, and submit a COVID-19 reporting form. You will receive guidance via email after the report is submitted. Our COVID website continues to be a valuable resource for the most recent guidelines for when you need to isolate or quarantine. Please take the time to review this information. The campus will continue to follow these guidelines until further notice.

We are working to offer free COVID-19 booster and flu shot clinics later this month. Further information will be provided once details are confirmed.

Sincerely,

Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, Ph.D.
President
