COVID-19 Updates

Symptoms Without a Positive Test
(Regardless of Vaccination Status)

Updated based on guidance issued by CDPH on January 9, 2024.

Do not come to campus or in-person learning activity/work location until you have tested for COVID-19. If you test positive, follow the “Positive Test with symptoms” guidance.  If you test negative, treat your symptoms like any other illness and take appropriate time to recover.

Fresno State Student Housing resident: Immediately notify Student Housing at 559.278.2677.

Employees: Notify your supervisor.

Submit a COVID ReportThis is essential if you plan to request leave from in-person activities or need more time to complete course assignments. The email response you receive is proof that you have submitted the report, and it provides next step guidance.

You may use a home Rapid Antigen Test kit or obtain PCR testing from an alternate testing provider such as a personal healthcare provider, community testing center (such as: My Turn Find a testing site).

*If you've previously recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days, do not get a PCR test. Instead, you will need a Rapid Antigen Test.

Per the CDC, you can become reinfected after having COVID-19. If you have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days, and start feeling symptoms again, you need to confirm that you are not once again sick with COVID-19 again by using one of the test methods above.

Next steps after you get your results:

  • Negative Results
    • PCR/Rapid Antigen Test: you may exit isolation effective immediately, and return to in-person activities when you feel better.
  • Positive Results

Testing documentation required upon request: test result from alternate testing provider, or photo of the positive rapid antigen test kit strip (or save the actual test kit strip) with your name/date of the test clearly written on the test kit strip.
